North of Rome the country side was colonized by the Etruscans and it is in villages like Sutri some of the best preserved amphitheater of this ancient civilization can be visited. The amphitheater was obtained by the excavation of enormous tufaceous rock and on its external walls the necropolis with tombs dating back to the 4th century B.C. can still be visited.

The mitreo with its frescoes and the handsome cripta are also not to be missed.
